Nucleosome assembly protein 1 like 6, pseudogene (NAP1L6P) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene in the human genome, related to the NAP1 family which are histone chaperones involved in nucleosome assembly and chromatin dynamics[2][1]. Unlike the functional NAP1 family members, NAP1L6P does not encode a protein, but its transcript may exert regulatory effects, such as acting as a competing endogenous RNA or miRNA decoy, thereby influencing the expression of related genes[5]. Some studies have assigned functional regulatory roles to long non-coding RNAs transcribed from pseudogenes, including associations with cancer biology via post-transcriptional regulation mechanisms[3][6].
