Nucleus accumbens-associated protein 2 (NACC2)

Target
NACC2
Molecular classification
Transcription factor (DNA-binding transcription repressor, RNA polymerase II-specific), Histone modification (histone deacetylase binding activity), Protein homodimerization
01

Overview

Nucleus accumbens-associated protein 2 (NACC2) is a DNA-binding transcription repressor, functioning primarily through interaction with the NuRD (nucleosome remodeling and deacetylase) complex. By recruiting NuRD to the MDM2 promoter, NACC2 represses MDM2 transcription, which stabilizes the tumor suppressor p53/TP53 and modulates cell apoptosis in response to DNA damage. It has additional protein homodimerization and histone deacetylase binding activity. NACC2 is linked to some cancer types but currently has no direct drug interactions documented[1][5][6].
