NUP50 divergent transcript (NUP50-DT), also known as NUP50-AS1 or NUP50 antisense RNA 1 (head to head), is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed in a divergent orientation relative to the NUP50 gene[2]. Antisense lncRNAs such as NUP50-DT are typically involved in the regulation of protein-coding genes located nearby, often by influencing transcription, mRNA stability, or chromatin state, but the precise biological function and disease associations of NUP50-DT remain poorly characterized based on currently available data. NUP50-DT should not be confused with the protein-coding gene NUP50, which encodes a nucleoporin involved in nuclear pore complex function and nucleocytoplasmic transport.
