Overview

NUS1 pseudogene 3 (NUS1P3), also known as YDD19, is classified as a pseudogene unrelated to the protein-coding NUS1 gene. Unlike NUS1—which encodes the Nogo-B receptor (NgBR), a critical subunit in cis-prenyltransferase complexes essential for protein glycosylation, dolichol biosynthesis, and has a clear role in human disease—NUS1P3 has no known coding potential or biological activity[4][5][6]. There are no reports linking NUS1P3 to human disease, drug interaction, or biomarker applications. No molecular function or action has been attributed to NUS1P3 in curated scientific databases. Key clarification: - NUS1 pseudogene 3 (NUS1P3) is distinct from the protein-coding NUS1 gene and should not be mistaken for a functional protein, therapeutic target, or disease gene. NUS1, not NUS1P3, encodes the Nogo-B receptor involved in congenital disorders of glycosylation, neurological diseases, and targets of medical interest[1][3][5][7]. NUS1P3 itself is inactive and is included in gene catalogs due to genetic sequence similarity with NUS1, but it does not code for protein or confer biological function.
