Overview

NUS1 pseudogene 4 (NUS1P4) is classified as a pseudogene of the NUS1 (Nogo-B receptor) gene family and is annotated in public genome databases as a non-coding gene without known protein product or function[5]. Unlike the functional NUS1 gene, which encodes a receptor subunit involved in dolichol synthesis and is implicated in neural and metabolic disorders[1][4], NUS1P4 simply represents a duplicated, likely inactive segment of DNA. While some pseudogenes can regulate their parent genes through noncoding RNA mechanisms or serve as genetic reservoirs[3], there is currently no evidence in databases or the literature that NUS1P4 has such a role. It is not considered a therapeutic target or associated with any drugs, mechanisms of action, clinical biomarkers, or specific safety concerns[5]. Relevant database identifiers for NUS1P4: - HGNC: 38474 - NCBI Gene: 100130167 - Ensembl: ENSG00000217686[5] In summary, NUS1P4 is a pseudogene with no established biological or therapeutic relevance beyond its relationship to the functional NUS1 gene.
