Target intelligence / Profile preview

O-acetylated GD2 ganglioside

Molecular classification
Glycosphingolipid, Ganglioside, Oncofetal antigen
01

Overview

O-acetylated GD2 ganglioside is a disialoganglioside derivative with an acetyl group attached to the sialic acid residue. It is an oncofetal antigen overexpressed in various neuroectoderm-derived tumors and some carcinomas, but with limited expression in normal adult tissues, making it a promising target for immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T cells. CASD1 is the enzyme responsible for the acetylation.
