O-linked N-acetylglucosaminidase (OGA)

Target
OGA
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Glycoside hydrolase, Hexosaminidase
01

Overview

O-linked N-acetylglucosaminidase (OGA) is an enzyme that removes O-linked β-N-acetylglucosamine (O-GlcNAc) from serine and threonine residues on nuclear and cytoplasmic proteins. It functions in opposition to O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT), which adds O-GlcNAc. The cycling of O-GlcNAc regulates diverse cellular processes. OGA is a therapeutic target in cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and metabolic disorders.
