Activation of OAMB leads primarily to increased intracellular calcium, modulating various physiological responses such as muscle contraction, energy metabolism, synaptic plasticity, and behavior[7][8][10]. OAMB is a major regulator of exercise adaptation, stress response, and arousal in insects, and is increasingly a focus for insecticide development due to its role in vector behavior and physiology[6][9]. There is no homologous protein in mammals.
