Dysfunction or disease affecting the ocular surface—as seen in dry eye disease, infections, trauma, or inflammatory disorders—directly impairs vision and ocular comfort and is a major focus of ophthalmic therapeutics[1][2]. In summary, "ocular tissue surface" is an anatomic/functional concept, not a molecular target, so most canonical molecular target fields are not applicable.
