Overview
Odd-skipped related transcription factor 2 (OSR2) is a zinc-finger protein and member of the transcription factor family that is a mammalian homolog of the Drosophila odd-skipped gene. OSR2 plays a critical role in mammalian developmental processes, especially in the growth and morphogenesis of the palate, and is involved in preventing excessive tooth formation after adult tooth eruption. Mutations in OSR2 are associated with developmental defects, such as cleft palate and certain craniofacial abnormalities.
