OFD1 pseudogene 10 Y-linked (OFD1P10Y) is a non-coding sequence on the Y chromosome derived from retroposition of the X-linked OFD1 gene. Pseudogenes such as OFD1P10Y resemble functional genes but typically lack regulatory signals, are not transcribed or translated into functional proteins, and do not perform biological roles. OFD1X (the X-linked, functional protein) is notable for roles in centriole, cilia formation, cell cycle regulation, chromatin remodeling, autophagy, and disease such as oral-facial-digital syndrome and Joubert syndrome. However, pseudogenes and the Y-linked paralogs are not known to participate in these functions. The existence and expression of OFD1Y in some mammals (e.g., cattle) was demonstrated, sometimes as an "active gene", but in humans, Y-linked OFD1 pseudogenes—including OFD1P10Y—do not have documented protein-coding or regulatory function. In summary: OFD1 pseudogene 10 Y-linked (OFD1P10Y) is not a drug target, lacks biological function, and is best categorized as a pseudogene.
