Overview

OFD1 pseudogene 18 Y-linked (OFD1P18Y; aliases: 71-7A2, CYorf1, OFD1PY18) is a genetic locus found on the human Y chromosome. It is one of up to 18 duplicated pseudogenes derived from the OFD1 gene family; these Y-linked pseudogenes resulted from retroposition or duplication events, and are considered non-functional—lacking coding potential, molecular function, and disease relevance. Unlike the canonical OFD1 gene on the X chromosome, which encodes a centriolar protein essential for cilia formation and development, OFD1P18Y does not produce a protein nor participate in molecular or signaling pathways, and is not classified as a therapeutic target[1][2][5][6]. If you intended the canonical, functional protein involved in disease (OFD1 Centriole And Centriolar Satellite Protein), refer instead to the X-linked OFD1 gene, whose mutations cause oral-facial-digital syndrome, Joubert syndrome, and other ciliopathies[2][3][4]. However, OFD1P18Y itself is not considered a drug target or biomarker.
