Overview

OFD1 pseudogene 9 Y-linked (OFD1P9Y) is one of multiple pseudogene sequences on the human Y chromosome with high sequence similarity to the protein-coding OFD1 gene located on the X chromosome. Unlike the functional OFD1 gene, which encodes a centrosomal protein involved in cilia biogenesis and whose mutations cause developmental disorders such as oral-facial-digital syndrome type I, OFD1P9Y does not encode a functional protein and is not known to be transcribed or translated. It is considered a non-functional, duplicated genomic sequence derived from the ancestral OFD1 gene, with no evidence of pathological, physiological, or drug target relevance in humans[1][2][3][4][5].
