OGFR antisense RNA 1 (non-protein coding) (OGFR-AS1)

Overview

OGFR-AS1 is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the OGFR gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs such as OGFR-AS1 do not encode proteins but instead function at the RNA level to regulate gene expression through multiple mechanisms, including recruitment of chromatin modifiers, RNA-RNA interactions affecting splicing and stability, and transcriptional interference with their sense (protein-coding) partners. These antisense RNAs can modulate key biological processes such as cell proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, and differentiation, and their dysregulation has been linked to various diseases, most notably cancer. OGFR-AS1 has not been directly characterized as a therapeutic target or biomarker, but is part of the growing landscape of regulatory non-coding RNAs with potential roles in gene regulation and disease pathways[1][2].
