Overview

Ole e 1 is the major allergen found in olive tree pollen (*Olea europaea*). It is a group I allergen and a primary marker for olive pollen allergy diagnosis, with sensitization occurring in approximately 70–90% of individuals allergic to olive pollen. Ole e 1 is synthesized in the rough endoplasmic reticulum of pollen grains and may play a role in signal transduction pathways controlling pregermination events and pollen tube growth. It exhibits cross-reactivity with allergens from other *Oleaceae* family members like ash, privet, and lilac. IgE antibodies against Ole e 1 are frequently detected in patients with olive pollen allergy.
