Olfactory receptor 10AG1 (OR10AG1)

Olfactory receptor 10AG1 (OR10AG1) is a human protein encoded by the OR10AG1 gene[4][1]. It belongs to the large family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) specialized for olfactory function. Like other olfactory receptors, OR10AG1 has a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors[1][4]. These receptors are responsible for the detection of odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium and initiate neuronal responses that trigger the perception of smell. The human olfactory receptor family is the largest gene family in the genome[4][1]. There is no current evidence of OR10AG1 involvement in human disease, nor are there any drugs specifically targeting it. OR10AG1 is not known to serve as a biomarker or clinical therapeutic target beyond its role in olfaction[1][4][14].
