Olfactory receptor 10G3 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily specifically expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it binds odorant molecules and initiates a G protein-mediated signal transduction cascade that ultimately results in the perception of smell[1][2][3][4]. Like other olfactory receptors, it possesses a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure and is transcribed from a single coding exon[1][4]. The OR10G3 gene is not a pseudogene and is one of the many functional human olfactory receptor genes[2][3]. Despite evidence that some olfactory receptors have physiological roles outside of olfaction, there is currently no established link between OR10G3 and specific diseases or drug responses[9].
