Olfactory receptor 11H6 is a member of the olfactory receptor family in humans, encoded by the OR11H6 gene. Like other olfactory receptors, it is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure common to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. It is responsible for recognizing specific odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium and initiating a signal transduction cascade via G proteins, which leads to the perception of smell. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and individual receptors typically display selective responses to different odorant ligands such as isovaleric acid[1][5][8][9].
