Olfactory receptor 2J3 (OR2J3) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily and specifically functions as an olfactory receptor in the human nose[1][3][4]. It is responsible for detecting specific odorant molecules, especially cis-3-hexen-1-ol, a compound with a characteristic "green, cut grass" smell released by wounded plants[1][2][3]. Variation in the OR2J3 gene affects individual sensitivity to this odorant, and certain variants (T113A and R226Q) can substantially reduce or abolish this sensory perception[2][3].
