Olfactory receptor 4Q3 is a member of the olfactory receptor family, a group of G protein-coupled receptors with 7-transmembrane domains that bind odor molecules in the nasal epithelium and trigger neuronal signaling leading to the perception of smells. These receptors are encoded by single-exon genes, representing the largest gene family in the human genome. OR4Q3’s main function is to recognize specific odorants and initiate signal transduction cascades via G proteins, contributing to the diversity of human olfaction. This protein does not have a recognized role in clinical disease or drug targeting.
