Olfactory receptor family 1 subfamily Q member 1 (OR1Q1) is a member of the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure[1][2][4][7]. OR1Q1 interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating neuronal responses that lead to the perception of smell[2][6][7]. Olfactory receptors, including OR1Q1, are responsible for the recognition and transduction of odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways. This gene family is the largest in the human genome and is primarily involved in olfaction and sensory transduction rather than classical therapeutic targeting[2][7]. At present, OR1Q1 is not recognized as a therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs or mechanisms of action associated with it in clinical practice[2][7].
