Overview

Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily D member 3 (OR10D3) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, specifically classified as an olfactory receptor. Like other olfactory receptors, it possesses a seven-transmembrane domain structure and is encoded by a single exon gene. OR10D3 is expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it interacts with odorant molecules to initiate G protein-mediated signal transduction, ultimately leading to the perception of smell. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome. There is currently no evidence that OR10D3 is involved in any established disease process, nor is it a therapeutic target or known to interact with any drugs. The name "OR10D3P" and several aliases indicate this gene is sometimes annotated as a pseudogene, but primary sources recognize it as a protein-coding gene in human annotation resources.
