Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily G member 2 (OR10G2) is a member of the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) with a characteristic seven-transmembrane domain architecture[7][2][1]. OR10G2 is involved in the detection of odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium, participating in the sense of smell through G protein-mediated signal transduction[1][7]. While olfactory receptors as a group are mainly responsible for chemosensation, some have documented roles in nonolfactory tissues, but there is no direct evidence of extranasal functions or disease associations for OR10G2 specifically[1]. OR10G2 is considered a functional gene (not a pseudogene), found on human chromosome 14, and shows strong sequence similarity to olfactory receptors in other mammals[2]. No drugs, clinical biomarkers, or known therapeutic interventions are associated with this specific receptor.
