Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily H member 5 (OR10H5) is a member of the largest group of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are encoded by single exon genes in humans. These receptors function in the detection of odorant molecules in the nose, activating a neuronal response that is perceived as smell. Structurally, OR10H5 features the canonical seven-transmembrane domain shared by GPCRs and is expressed in olfactory sensory neurons[4][2][3]. While olfactory receptors as a family are broadly implicated in nonolfactory physiological processes, including in extranasal tissues, there is no evidence for direct association of OR10H5 with drugs or major diseases. OR10H5 may participate in signal transduction pathways specific for odorant recognition and is a structurally prototypic member of the rhodopsin-like GPCR class[4][2][3].
