Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily K member 2 (OR10K2) is a G protein-coupled receptor primarily expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it binds odorant molecules to initiate neuronal responses responsible for the perception of smell. Like other olfactory receptors, it is characterized by a seven-transmembrane domain structure and mediates signal transduction by coupling with G proteins. OR10K2 is part of the largest gene family in the human genome and plays a fundamental role in sensory perception but is not known to be directly involved in disease or targeted by currently approved drugs[1][4][5][6][9][10].
