Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily Q member 2 pseudogene (OR10Q2P) is a gene classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is derived from a protein-coding gene but has lost its ability to encode a functional protein due to mutations such as frame-shifts or premature stop codons. While functional olfactory receptor proteins in this family are G protein-coupled receptors responsible for detecting odorant molecules and initiating the sense of smell, OR10Q2P itself does not produce a working receptor and is not believed to play a direct biological role.
