Olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily W member 1 (OR10W1) is a member of the olfactory receptor (OR) gene family, which encodes proteins responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium and initiating neuronal responses that lead to the perception of smell[1][5]. OR10W1 is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) with a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure, sharing this architecture with other neurotransmitter and hormone receptors[1][2][5]. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome and is mostly involved in olfaction, though emerging evidence suggests olfactory receptors can also be expressed in non-olfactory tissues[3]. To date, there are no documented drug interactions or established biomarker or clinical roles for OR10W1. OR10W1 is not linked to major disease roles or safety concerns in the literature[5][6].
