Olfactory receptor family 11 subfamily H member 6 (OR11H6) is a protein-coding G protein-coupled receptor expressed in the human olfactory epithelium, where it detects specific odorant molecules and activates neuronal pathways leading to the perception of smell. This receptor has the characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure of the GPCR superfamily and mediates the first step in the signal transduction of external chemical cues (odorants) into neuronal signals. The olfactory receptor family is the largest gene family in the human genome. OR11H6 is not a known therapeutic or drug target, and its only identified human ligand is isovaleric acid, a volatile compound associated with body odor. There are no established disease associations, biomarkers, or major safety concerns for OR11H6 at present.
