Overview

Olfactory receptor family 13 subfamily H member 1 (OR13H1) is a member of the large olfactory receptor gene family, which encodes G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) located in the olfactory epithelium of the nose[1][2][3][5][6]. These receptors possess a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure shared with other GPCRs involved in neurotransmitter and hormone signaling[1][2][3][5]. OR13H1 binds specific odorant molecules, initiating a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell[1][2][3][5]. This gene is considered functional and is localized on the X chromosome[1][4]. OR13H1 is not associated with major human diseases and currently has no drug interactions or use as a therapeutic target[5].
