The olfactory receptor family 13 subfamily Z member 1 pseudogene (OR13Z1P) is annotated as a pseudogene belonging to the large family of olfactory receptors. Olfactory receptors are classically responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose and initiating olfactory signaling, but pseudogenes in this family are distinguished by mutations (such as nonsense or frameshift mutations) that result in non-functional or non-coding sequences[2]. There are no drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarker uses, or safety concerns associated with this pseudogene. There is no evidence of common misspelling or confusion about identity, but the primary issue is that this is not a canonical drug target, as it does not produce a protein product involved in classical signaling[2]. This entry should be flagged in databases as a pseudogene, not a validated therapeutic or biological target in humans[2].
