Olfactory receptor family 14 subfamily C member 36 is a member of the largest gene family in the human genome, encoding a protein with a seven-transmembrane domain typical of G protein-coupled receptors. Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium, initiating a neuronal response leading to odor perception. The receptor functions through G protein-mediated signal transduction, ultimately supporting the sense of smell.
