Olfactory receptor family 14 subfamily J member 1 (OR14J1) is a protein-coding gene that encodes an olfactory receptor responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose, initiating neuronal response and perception of smell. OR14J1 is part of the large olfactory receptor family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by seven transmembrane domains. These receptors mediate odorant signal transduction via G protein mechanisms. OR14J1 has aliases such as OR5U1 and OR6-25 and is primarily known for its role in olfactory signaling pathways.
