Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily A member 14 (OR2A14) is a protein expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it acts as a receptor for odorant molecules in the nose and initiates a neuronal response that triggers the perception of smell. OR2A14 belongs to the large olfactory receptor family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure, and is encoded by a single coding-exon gene. This family of receptors is the largest gene family in the human genome, and their primary recognized function is the mediation of olfactory signals[1][3][5]. There are no confirmed roles for OR2A14 in major diseases, no interacting drugs, and it is not considered a therapeutic drug target outside of research related to olfaction.
