Overview

Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily A member 25 (OR2A25) is a human protein encoded by the OR2A25 gene. It is part of the large olfactory receptor family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) with a characteristic seven-transmembrane domain structure. These receptors are expressed in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where they bind odorant molecules to initiate a neuronal response leading to the perception of smell. OR2A25 is one of many such receptors, reflecting the diversity and size of this gene family, but there is currently no evidence supporting therapeutic targeting, clinical significance, or disease linkage specific to this receptor[2][3][5].
