Overview

Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily AL member 1 pseudogene (OR2AL1P) is a pseudogene in the human genome and does not encode a functional protein[2][4][6][9]. It is classified within the olfactory receptor gene family, which is the largest in the genome and generally encodes G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that detect odorants to mediate the sense of smell[4][8][9]. However, as a pseudogene, OR2AL1P is a non-functional segment of DNA arising from mutation or loss of selective pressure, and there is no evidence of a functional protein product or any associated biological or disease function in humans[2][4][6]. OR2AL1P has also been assigned identifiers such as HGNC: 14712, NCBI Gene: 79547, and Ensembl: ENSG00000254767[4]. There are no reported interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarkers, or therapeutic safety concerns related to this gene.
