Overview

Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily B member 3 (OR2B3) is a protein encoded by the OR2B3 gene in humans. It belongs to the large family of olfactory receptors, which are a subset of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by a seven-transmembrane domain structure. These receptors are responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose and initiating a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. OR2B3, like other olfactory receptors, is primarily involved in sensory transduction rather than serving as a therapeutic drug target. Disease links are limited and not strongly established, and there are no drugs or biomarkers currently associated with this specific receptor.
