Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily G member 6 (OR2G6) is a human protein-coding gene encoding an olfactory receptor, which belongs to the large G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family specialized for odorant recognition in the nasal epithelium[1][2][5][8][12]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2G6 has a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure and is involved in the initial detection of odors, leading to signal transduction events that result in the sense of smell. These proteins are encoded by single-exon genes and make up the largest gene family in the human genome. Current research into olfactory receptors increasingly explores their potential roles outside the olfactory system, but no specific disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker roles are described for OR2G6[2][3][5][8][12].
