Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily J member 2 (OR2J2) is a G protein-coupled receptor that detects odorant molecules in the nose and initiates the neuronal responses leading to the perception of smell. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2J2 arises from a single coding-exon gene and possesses a 7-transmembrane domain structure typical of many receptors involved in signal transduction. OR2J2 is one of a very large family of olfactory receptors, the largest gene family in the human genome.
