Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily T member 11 (OR2T11) is a human G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) encoded by the OR2T11 gene on chromosome 1[1][4]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2T11 features a seven-transmembrane domain structure and mediates the recognition and transduction of odor signals from specific odorant molecules in the nose. It is part of the largest gene family in the human genome, responsible for the detection of a wide spectrum of smells. OR2T11 is functionally involved in detecting several sulfur-containing odorants (such as tert-butylthiol, ethanethiol, 2-propenethiol, and thietane), with its activity enhanced in the presence of ionic copper[1]. This receptor has no established role in disease nor as a clinical biomarker or therapeutic drug target. In some individuals, OR2T11 may be non-functional due to genetic variation (it is a “segregating pseudogene”)[4].
