Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily T member 29 (OR2T29) is a member of the large olfactory receptor family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for detection of odorant molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response that triggers the perception of smell[3][8][4][1]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2T29 is encoded by a single coding-exon gene and features the characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure shared by many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors[3][1]. Olfactory receptors represent the largest gene family in the human genome, with around 400 functional genes. These receptors are primarily expressed in the nasal olfactory epithelium[1][3][4][7], although recent studies suggest some expression in nonolfactory tissues with possible, but poorly understood, physiological roles[4]. There is no evidence supporting OR2T29 as a therapeutic, diagnostic, or biomarker target, nor are there any approved drugs known to specifically interact with this receptor. Its established function is restricted to sensory transduction of smell[3][7][8].
