Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily T member 33 (OR2T33) is a G protein-coupled receptor involved in the detection of odorant molecules in the nose, initiating neuronal responses that trigger the perception of smell. Like other olfactory receptors, OR2T33 has a seven-transmembrane domain structure characteristic of the rhodopsin family and is encoded by a single coding-exon gene[1][4][5]. Although primarily associated with olfaction, OR2T33 and related receptors are expressed in various non-chemosensory tissues and may play roles in neurological processes, with altered expression observed in neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease and dementia with Lewy bodies[2][3]. However, there is no evidence of OR2T33 being a target of approved drugs or having a direct therapeutic application.
