Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily V member 2 (OR2V2)

Target
OR2V2
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Receptor, Olfactory receptor
01

Overview

Olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily V member 2 (OR2V2) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) expressed in the olfactory epithelium where it binds specific odorant molecules in the nose, initiating neuronal signaling that leads to the perception of smells. OR2V2 shares a seven-transmembrane domain typical of GPCRs and is part of a large gene family unique to each species. Its physiological role is limited to olfaction, with each olfactory receptor generally recognizing a subset of odorant molecules. There are no known associations with disease processes or therapeutic drug interactions; its primary function is sensory.
