Overview

Olfactory receptor family 3 subfamily A member 3 (OR3A3) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) encoded by the OR3A3 gene in humans, located on chromosome 17. OR3A3 is part of the largest gene family in the human genome, the olfactory receptor family, which is responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium. Like other olfactory receptors, OR3A3 has a 7-transmembrane domain structure and is involved in the initial molecular recognition of odorants, triggering G protein-mediated signal transduction that results in the perception of smell. It is not recognized as a therapeutic drug target, has no known direct interactions with clinical drugs, and is not widely implicated in disease; its primary biological role is in olfactory sensory signaling[1][2][3][4][5].
