Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily A member 46 pseudogene (OR4A46P) is a human pseudogene belonging to the large olfactory receptor gene family, which encodes G protein-coupled receptors involved in recognizing odorant molecules in the nose and initiating a neuronal response for smell perception. In humans, a significant fraction of olfactory receptor loci have lost coding potential through mutations and are classified as pseudogenes[3][6]. OR4A46P does not produce a functional receptor protein and has no known physiological or pharmacological activity.
