Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily C member 13 (OR4C13) is a member of the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) with a 7-transmembrane domain structure. OR4C13 is involved in the recognition of odorant molecules in the nose and initiates neuronal responses that lead to the perception of smell. These receptors are expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium. The gene encoding OR4C13 is located on chromosome 11 in humans. OR4C13 does not currently have a known role in disease or as a target for approved drugs, and its functions are restricted to olfactory signal transduction
