Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily C member 15 (OR4C15) is a member of the large olfactory receptor family in humans, which is responsible for the detection of odorant molecules in the nose and initiates a neuronal response leading to the perception of smells[2][3][5][8]. OR4C15, like other olfactory receptors, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that spans the membrane seven times (seven-transmembrane domain) and mediates signal transduction by coupling with G proteins. The gene is protein-coding, part of the largest gene family in the human genome, and functions primarily in the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals in the olfactory epithelium[2][3][5][8][9]. There are limited data regarding its pharmacological targeting, non-chemosensory functions, or interacting drugs. Some studies have reported associations of olfactory receptors, including OR4C15, with particular diseases such as hypopharynx cancer, but the functional and therapeutic relevance remains unclear and under-studied[5].
