Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily C member 3 (OR4C3) is a protein in humans encoded by the *OR4C3* gene. It belongs to the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by a seven-transmembrane domain structure[2][5][9]. These receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium, initiating a neuronal response that results in the perception of smell. The OR4C3 gene is part of the largest gene family in the human genome. Like other olfactory receptors, OR4C3 is believed to recognize specific odorants and mediate signal transduction via G protein signaling pathways[2][5]. However, there is currently no established role for OR4C3 in human disease, and it is not known to be targeted by any approved drugs.
