Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily C member 49 pseudogene (OR4C49P) is a non-protein-coding genetic locus classified as a pseudogene within the large olfactory receptor gene family in humans. Olfactory receptors are typically G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for odorant detection and signal transduction, but this locus contains disabling mutations (such as nonsense or frameshift changes) and does not produce a functional protein. Most pseudogenes, including OR4C49P, are not considered therapeutic or diagnostic targets.
