OR7E103P (also called OR4D12P) is a human pseudogene derived from the olfactory receptor family. Unlike functional olfactory receptor genes—which encode G protein-coupled receptors involved in odorant detection—OR7E103P is noncoding, resulting from mutations or genomic rearrangements that prevent it from producing an active protein[1][8]. Pseudogenes may still play regulatory roles by acting as competing endogenous RNAs or affecting gene expression through non-coding RNA networks, but there is no evidence that OR7E103P has any significant functional or clinical relevance. It is not considered a therapeutic target and is not used as a biomarker or in disease diagnostics or treatment[2][4].
