Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily F member 15 (OR4F15) is a protein-coding gene encoding an olfactory receptor that participates in the detection of odorant molecules in the nose, triggering neuronal responses responsible for the perception of smell. OR4F15 is a member of the large olfactory receptor family, which is the largest gene family in the human genome. These receptors are classified as G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) arising from single coding-exon genes and characterized by seven transmembrane domains. Like other olfactory receptors, OR4F15 is involved in the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals[1][3]. There is currently no evidence associating OR4F15 with human disease, and no known drugs or established therapeutic mechanisms target this receptor[1].
